TWO LOOPS. 30KM. 70KM.
Voted one of Ireland's most beautiful cycle routes, the Valley 70 Cycle takes in some of Kerry's most breathtaking scenery.
The 70km (marked in black on the map below) loops Lough Leane, starting at Fossa Community Centre (across from Fossa Church). You'll head for Beaufort Bridge, turn left for Beaufort, Kilgobnet & Glencuttane and back onto the Board Of Works Road. Now fully warmed up, you'll turn right at the Gap Cross, up to Kate Kearney's Cottage. From here, it's gets challenging. You pedal up the Gap of Dunloe, descend the switchbacks into the Black Valley and on to Molls Gap. From there, it's downhill to Killarney, going from Muckross Road, onto Mission Road, Port Road and back to Fossa Community Centre for the BBQ, Ice Cream and Chats.
The 30 km (marked in blue on the map below) is the first part of the cycle through Beaufort, Kilgobnet, Glencuttane and Board of Works Road. Instead of turning right for the Gap of Dunloe, you continue back by The Dunloe Hotel & Gardens to the main Killorglin Road where you turn right for Fossa Community Centre. It's a flat, safe, scenic route on lovely smooth roads - fully marshaled. Plus, you'll be first back for food and refreshments!
